Mass media (television, newspapers, radio but especially the internet with its sites, blogs and social networks) has been for many years the first field of detection of discrimination cases recorded by the Contact Centre: for this reason, from 2016 UNAR also activated a Media and Internet Observatory regarding the monitoring of discriminatory phenomena on the web.
Anti-racism and freedom of thought
- Court of Treviso sent. n. 492 of 06/06/2000: absolution from the crime of committing acts of discrimination about the declarations of the mayor of Treviso through the press.
- Criminal Cassation sec. III sent.n. 37733 of 16/11/2006:integrates the crime of committing acts of discrimination for racial and ethnic reasons, provided by art. 3, paragraph 1, Law 25 June 1993 n. 205, the conduct of the manager of a public office that refuses to serve, within the premises, foreign customers as non-EU citizens, even if such conduct is sporadic and not usual.
